Abstract

The work area where students develop their internships must be efficient and safe. This article focuses on the prevention of risks or failures in a KNOVA® Benchtop Drill Press 10 with Laser drill press, in order to ensure the safety of operators and unforeseen events that may arise from misuse of the equipment. This study presents the implementation of flexible manufacturing methodologies: Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Continuous Improvement (KAIZEN), and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), demonstrating the improvement in processes. The combination of these tools not only optimizes operations but also establishes a systematic framework for reducing risks in educational environments, where safety and efficiency are critical. As a result, a 72.015% reduction in the NPR (priority number) was achieved compared to the total aspects analyzed, highlighting the importance of integrating complementary methodologies to maximize their impact
